Seminar Announcement | Prof. Francesca Musiani on Infrastructural Digital Sovereignty

As part of the teaching partnership between the University of Salerno and the University of Padua, we are pleased to announce an upcoming online seminar with Prof. Francesca Musiani, Associate Research Professor at the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) in Paris.
đź“… Thursday, April 24th
🕧 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM (CET)
📍 Online: to receive the Zoom link, please write to: swing@unisa.it
In her talk, titled “Infrastructural Digital Sovereignty”, Prof. Musiani will present a perspective rooted in science and technology studies (STS), and more specifically in infrastructure studies. Building on her concept of “infrastructuring digital sovereignty” (Musiani, 2022), she proposes to move beyond legal interpretations and rhetorical political uses of the term “digital sovereignty,” and instead explore it “from within” — as a set of ongoing negotiations, practices, and controversies embedded in the very infrastructures of the digital world.
Through the lens of two newly launched interdisciplinary research projects, the seminar will discuss how French and global teams are working to provide both empirical and theoretical insight into digital sovereignty as a series of co-constructed techniques, practices, and norms in the making.
The seminar is open to students, researchers, and faculty from all disciplines.
